🐾💙 It’s National Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week! 💙🐾
Every year during the third week of September, we shine a light on pets who are often overlooked simply because they’re not considered “perfect.” Whether they’re older, have special needs, or just don’t fit the “typical” picture, these animals are just as sweet, loving, and deserving of a forever home as any other pet. 🐶🐱
This week, let’s celebrate by opening our hearts and supporting our local shelters and rescues. You never know – your new best friend might be waiting there for you! 🐾✨
Visit these local pet shelters this week and help give a “less-adoptable” pet the loving home they deserve.
· Oklahoma City Animal Welfare (OKC) – The City of OKC’s municipal shelter provides adoptions, spay/neuter services, vaccinations, volunteer opportunities, and more. All pets are spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
· Safe Haven Animal Rescue (Yukon | MWC | Norman) – A no-kill, volunteer-driven rescue focused on rehoming dogs and cats from high-kill shelters, puppy mills, or owner surrenders.
· Bethany Animal Welfare (Bethany): Bethany’s city-operated shelter helping connect adoptable cats and dogs with loving families, while promoting responsible pet care.
· Edmond Animal Welfare / Animal Services (Edmond): Edmond’s city shelter serves stray and owner-surrendered pets, offering adoption services and staffing ‘get acquainted’ rooms to help families meet potential new pets.
· The Underdogs Rescue Inc. (Yukon): A foster-based rescue dedicated to animals often overlooked due to age, breed, behavior, or medical conditions. They rehabilitate, educate, and rehome—offering every animal a chance.
