Most people love a great steak, right?! But most people may not know about the number of high quality steakhouses right here, central USA, the heart of Oklahoma, in the OKC Metro. Believe it or not, OKC and the surrounding areas have several AMAZING restaurants to choose from! In this week’s blog on “City’s Best,” I am featuring OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses!
I have highlighted some well known and maybe not-so-well-known steakhouses. In some, this is the primary entree offered. In others, it’s a part of a robust and varied menu, which just so happens to have one of the top steaks in town. So here is my list of OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses and places to experience delicious steaks:
So right off the bat, I’m going to list not only my FAV steakhouse in OKC, but one of my top 10 restaurants of all time! Yes, I know, that’s a big statement, but it’s true. And that’s Mahogany’s Prime Steakhouse.
OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouse: Mahogany’s Prime Steakhouse
First of all the location. To be clear, I’m referring to the downtown OKC location. The original location is in NW OKC. Now, that location is very nice, but with a much different vibe. Beautiful and spacious, but a more mature crowd and feel to it. In the last 5 years or so, Mahogany Prime Steakhouse opened its AMAZING downtown location It’s hipper, flashier and right in the middle of the OKC Metro Universe. In fact, it is right across the street from the former Thunder stadium and they even offered rickshaw rides to the games. Don’t you love it just for that? Not an Uber or a taxi, but a rickshaw. Anyway we have a new arena now for the Thunder and I’m not sure they even do that anymore. But that’s not the point!
When you walk in you are greeted by very friendly staff. The feel is high-end and the waitstaff is top notch. You always have at least 2 waitstaff taking care of you. I highly recommend a Dirty Goose straight up with a blue cheese olive but that’s just me. Order any kind of martini just so you can watch the “shaker” spectacle they make table side as they shake your martini right before your eyes! But most importantly, regarding the steaks, well they are amazing. From wagyu to filet mignon, all are delicious. I’ve had the surf and turf there too and was not disappointed with their seafood. In fact, it was also EXCELLENT they even offer surf & turf served for 2 and their chefs definitely know what they are doing.
Also, if you are a wine lover, and who doesn’t love a great Cab with a great steak, you’re in luck. Their wine selection is extensive and if the waitstaff can’t sufficiently pair your meal, they volunteer their sommelier, whom is always friendly and glad to help.
I have been to Mahogany’s for almost every special holiday or occasion and I can’t say enough about it. Yes, it’s pricey and I would never dress below business casual there, but that’s just me. All in all, with regard to OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses, Mahogany’s is a 5 out of 5 for me!

OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses: Cattlemen’s Steakhouse
Now, Cattlemen’s is a COMPLETELY different kind of steakhouse compared to the one I just went on and on about. Now don’t get me wrong, Cattlemen’s is obviously one of the BEST of the BEST to even make it on my list. Think of it as a classic, throwback steakhouse with dark maroon, low-rise tufted booths, in a somewhat noisy, busy, but very friendly atmosphere. It’s down-home AWESOME!
Cattlemen’s is found in the heart of the Historic Stockyards City. So if that gives you any inclination, you’d probably be right. Western boots are perfectly appropriate in this steakhouse. Like I mentioned, it is a very friendly environment as soon as you walk in the door. Now, if you don’t make a reservation, don’t be surprised if you have to wait up to 45 minutes to get in. Yup, it’s VERY popular, if not famous, and considered an “institution” by many, so don’t be surprised if you see a lot of tourists walking in as well. PS the waiting area is upstairs, so you have to walk through part of the dining room to get there. If that doesn’t get you salivating as you prepare to wait, nothing will.
Besides the steaks, which are delicious and very well priced, I love the rolls! Yes, even surrounded by all the delicious smells of steak, the rolls still make their way to the top. And there’s something to be said for their simple, yet delicious house salad with ranch dressing served on freezing cold plates.
Cattlemen’s is a really fun place. It’s also a family place, so expect to see large families with kids or large groups celebrating birthdays or bachelorette parties and that all just adds to the atmosphere. It’s casual, noisy and happy. Feel free to throw back your head and laugh with your friends because here, you won’t get any side eye looks for being rowdy and having fun.
So all in all, with regard to OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses list, Cattlemen’s gets a 4.5 out of 5 from me!

OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses: Texas de Brazil
So now let’s go in a completely different direction with the next one. So far I have featured a high-end fine dining experience and a completely casual, down-home experience. Texas de Brazil is all together different and that is probably because it’s technically a churrascaria. That’s right. Say it with me now chew-ross-ka-ria…. So here is where I get a little “international” with you.
According to a Google search, wikipedia defines this portuguese pronunciation and definition as “a place where meat is cooked in charrasco style, which translates roughly from the the Portueguese word for barbecue.” Now don’t be confused. This is no American barbecue. It’s more like a Brazilian steakhouse and many of you may be familiar with Texas de Brazil as it has restaurants all over the country and all over the world. And while I prefer to feature more local businesses, this place is so AMAZING, I broke my ‘loose” local rule and included it.
Setting the Stage…..
While each location is a little different, here are the 2 MAIN features of not only Texas de Brazil, but nearly all the churrascarias I have ever visited. And mind you, I have been to Argentina and Brazil where it is ABSOLUTELY authentic, but that is for another blog for another day!
Mind-blowing feature #1…the Salad Area. This part of the restaurant is usually very spacious because of all of the items they include. Picture a very nice buffet set up. This salad area, to be clear, is NOT where you get your steak. I’ll get to that in a minute.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were hidden spotlights hiding in the ceiling because when you walk in, or round the corner, it’s like a diamond shining bright. All the cheeses you could imaging, vegetables, shrimp, brazilian rice and beans, soups, fruit, prosciutto, salami, couscous, you name it….except the steaks, and it’s a beautiful sight. Now, my best advice is to be careful and pace yourself. It is VERY easy to get full here, and fast. But trust me, you want to leave room for the main course. No disrespect to the salad area. It’s definitely high quality and top notch.
So now onto feature #2….the meats! So how it works is that you are given a plate and tongs, little baby ones. Certain waiters, called “gauchos” are walking around with large pieces of skewered meats and when they come to your table they begin to slice the meats before your eyes while you collect the meat as it’s being sliced with your baby tongs. I’m salivating just thinking about it!
So basically this is a MEAT FORWARD all-you-can-eat buffet, but it’s unlike any other American buffet. Here is a list of all the meats:
- Filet mignon with or without wrapped bacon
- Flank steak
- Braised Beef Ribs
- Leg of Lamb
- Chicken Breast Wrapped in Bacon
- Parmesan-Crusted Pork Loin
- Barbecue Pork Ribs
- Brazilian Sausage
- Petite Filet
Actually, there are too many to list for this article, but you get the idea. It’s carnivore city in this location!
Rolling out….
Last time I visited, pricing was between $45-$50, which included the salad area and the meats. Also, they provide an unlimited about of brazilian rolls, fried sweet banana and mashed potatoes to your table. I believe you can just purchase the salad area at a certain price for unlimited visits. Be prepared to stuff yourself and be ready to be “rolled out.” So, besides being high quality and delicious, it’s all around a fun and unique experience. Casual dress is fine and parking should not be an issues as it is connected to Penn Square Mall, a popular mall centrally located in OKC. I highly recommend Texas de Brazil and give it a 4.7 our of 5 for taste, quality and uniqueness.

OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses: The Ranch
Another local FAV hitting the top spots of my list of OKC Metro’s Best Steakhouses is The Ranch. This steakhouse is definitely a high end steakhouse with prices to match, but different than Mahogony’s. It has a self proclaimed “opulent old world style,” and I would agree. The clientele in general is more mature and I would say it’s a 70/30 blend of Mahogany’s fine dining and Cattlemen’s old world charm, respectively. It’s the best of both worlds. Gentlemen can wear a sports coat AND boots!
The preparation and presentation of the steaks in excellent. There are 2 locations. One in OKC and 1 in Norman, at the south end of the OKC Metro. I have linked the Norman location below, but you can easily link to the OKC sight if that location is more convenient for you.
The toppings for your steak are creative and delicious, from the Cabernet Mushroom sauce to the Truffle Compound Butter. OMG, again I’m salivating just writing about it. I recommend the truffle with a bone in Ribeye or Porterhouse.
Due to quality, flavor and the sauces & toppings, The Ranch gets 4.8 out of 5 in my book.

OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses: Red Prime Steakhouse
Rounding out my list of OKC Metro’s BEST Steakhouses is Red Prime Steak. This, for years, had been my absolute favorite and it still is in my top 2 for sure. Prime is just a few blocks away from Bricktown in downtown OKC, on the fringe of Automobile Alley.
One of the things that really sets Prime apart from all of the others is its modern, urban design. The restaurant is SPECTATULAR with its 18 foot ceilings, exposed concrete, rich velvet curtains and horizontal floating neon tube lights used to create faux walkways. It feels like you have walked into a trendy Manhattan fine dining restaurant where everyone is hip & cool. This is where young professionals and singles go to have a strong martini at the bar and wait for friends before heading for a night on the town. Also a great place for romantic Valentine’s Day dinners, Anniversary dinners and fancy date nights. For intimate occasions, ask for one of their beautiful 7 foot high-backed, circular booths. Talk about feeling elite!
Red’s staff is very professional and also very versed on their extensive wine selection. Ask for Barrett. He’s great and is great in helping your pair your wines and steals. Personally I loved their filet mignon, but it was the rubs & crusts that makes these steaks some of the best in the state.
Parking is a bit limited and I would definitely suggest dressing up and making a reservation. So for quality, professionalism of the staff and SUPER modern vibe, I give Red PrimeSteak a 4.9 out of 5.

If you’re reading this article then hopefully you’re in the area or planning to be in the area. So let me be clear, that there are MANY, MANY more amazing steakhouses in the OKC Metro. These are some of my FAV and I will stand by my BEST list, but there are several others I have been blown away by and here they are in ranking order:

And I’m not going to lie, writing about the BEST Steakhouses brought back a lot of delicious memories and left me in a couple of “steak trances.” Enjoy!
